Across the Cultures

This precast pebble mosaic of 3m in diameter was installed at Western Park on Ponsonby Road in Auckland.It was done for the  Auckland City Council.It is a blend of Polynesian and New Zealand influence.A very interesting feature is the central circular piece out of genuine brass which is placed over a sump to facilitate drainage.The whole mosaic was installed like a dish.Pebbles used are white Moondance pebbles from Indonesia and grey/green and earthy/yellow pebbles from New Zealand.
