Mamaku Koru

Mamaku(black fern) Koru was installed at the Global Cafe,Henderson Youth Arts Facility in Waitakere,western Auckland.The pebble mosaic is 7m long and 4m high.Koru's tail depicts Mamaku's trunk with flat stones resembling Mamaku trunk's dead fronds.Since the whole landscape design consists out of concentric circles this aspect was brought into my inerpretation of Koru's head.Also an extra pebble mosaic path of 8m in length resembling Koru's tail is a part of whole concentric design.
